But with patience, kindness, and time, Barney has made remarkable progress and continues to show just how much potential he has. Today, Barney is a sweet and affectionate young dog who enjoys being around people, especially once he gets to know them. He can still be a little reserved when meeting new people and may cower or tuck his tail if approached too quickly, but with a gentle introduction, his true personality begins to shine. One of Barney's favorite things in the world is food. Treats are a fast track to his heart, and he's more than happy to join you for a snack break while building trust and learning new skills. He's also developed a strong bond with his handlers and often chooses to stay close by, checking in regularly and following along on adventures. Barney enjoys the company of other dogs and has shown playful, affiliative behavior during introductions. Like many young dogs, he appreciates canine companions who respect his space and social cues.
