Barney Beagle & Basset Hound Mix Onalaska, WI

Introducing Barney, the playful, affectionate beagle mix known for his friendly nature and irresistible charm. Barney loves to give kisses and be around his people.

Barney should do well in a home with children of any age due to his affectionate nature.

He can be a bit picky about the canine companions he makes. Set up a dog meet here at the shelter to see if your dog can match his vibe!

We are unsure of how he would do in a home with cats. On Barney's Doggy Day Out, he did see a cat and was inclined to chase it.

Barney would love to have a couch to plop down on for some naps and cuddling, he likes squeaky toys as well and would love to have some in his forever home.

Barney is a 3-year-old Beagle mix, recently weighing 55 pounds.

Barney is a guy who likes to follow his nose. What better way to give him some enrichment than a Doggy Day Out with one of our volunteers? He did great out of the shelter and had a blast smelling all the smells.

Here is what our volunteers have to say about him:

“Barney did so great on his Doggy Day Out! We started with a short car ride to go for a walk. On the walk, we saw some dogs and children from a distance. Barney seemed curious but not reactive in any way. On our walk, Barney loves to sniff everything. He would be a great walking buddy, especially if interested in a nice, calm stroll. Barney also loves kisses and is very affectionate. We did a few tricks and he sits very well but focus is a work in progress. Barney loves treats so with more time , he could learn so many more tricks. Also, he has the softest coat and would make a great napping partner.”
