Barb's Story
Hi, I’m Barb ❤️🐾

I’m an estimated two-year-old Beagle mix weighing about 20 pounds. I came to the shelter as a stray on 04-06-2026 with a wire painfully stuck around my leg. Thankfully, I received all the medical treatment I needed to recover, and now I’m feeling so much better! I’ve also been spayed, vaccinated for rabies, and microchipped, which means I’m officially ready to find my forever family.

My adoption fee is only $45.

Since I’ve already been spayed, there are no geographical adoption restrictions, meaning anyone is eligible to adopt me!

Yesterday, one of the shelter volunteers took me out for the day and learned so much about me. I had SO much fun running around and playing with my new friend, Oakley. We played with toys, got lots of treats, and soaked up all the love and attention. I even overcame my fear of stairs with Oakley showing me how it’s done!

I also met a cat. I thought she looked fun and wanted to lick her and play, but apparently, cats don’t always appreciate enthusiastic Beagle energy 😂 I did well with her, though, and I may just need a little time to understand cats better.

Now, let’s talk about Beagles. Yes, we follow our noses everywhere. Yes, we think personal space is overrated. Yes, we may occasionally act like tiny detectives solving important snack-related mysteries. But we also love BIG. We are loyal, affectionate, goofy, and happiest when we’re with our people. If you want a dog who will make you laugh, keep you company, and absolutely smother you with love, I might just be your girl.

I’m ready to start my next adventure with a family of my own ❤️

📍 Stafford County Animal Shelter
26 Frosty Lane
Stafford, VA 22554

🕒 Shelter Hours:
Monday through Friday: 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Saturday: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM

⚠️ Adoptions stop 30 minutes before closing.
