Meet Banjo

Hi my name is Banjo and I am 65lbs and was born May 2023. My foster mom calls me a gentle giant, because even though I'm a big boy I am the best behaved dog in the house ♥ I have the coloring of a Wheaten Terrier but give off possible doodle vibes as well...a dna test would be fun to do some time! (I do shed.)

I love all dogs I've met and I'm very playful...but not in a hyper or obnoxious way. I currently live with a Lab and a medium sized dog and I'm very playful with them. Tiny toy dogs might not be a good fit with my size though, even though I like them. (I'm currently unsure about cats. I bark at them and try to chase and wrestle, because I dont understand that they aren't big dogs like me!) I am hoping to have another playful, medium to large sized dog at my new home, or at least a family who will take me to play with other dogs sometimes.

I've done very well with the older kids in my foster home. I am super loving and easy going with my family and have never shown an ounce of aggression towards them! *However, I do have "stranger danger" at times, so people should be respectful when first meeting me. I'm not at all an aggressive dog, but when I'm scared I have occasionally growled, etc. Once I know you are a safe person you'll never have to worry again--we'll be besties!*

I kennel beautifully and I keep it clean. I am doing well with housetraining, but I dont yet alert you when I need to go out. I walk nicely on a leash. I've even been a good boy for baths and grooming!

Due to my size I am hoping to find an active family that will get me out on adventures, as well as someone who can physically lift me when needed ;-) I still need lifted into trucks, etc.

Kenneling is highly recommended for me during my puppy stage, unless you don't mind your shoes becoming my chew toys while you are gone! I am a very good boy in my kennel, even for 9 hours at a time.

If you think I'm a good fit for your home please apply at adoptapal.org. Applying does not commit you to adopting, but is the first step towards meeting me.
