Banjo's Story

Hi, my name is BANJO and I'm a little Plott Hound puppy who is only 12 weeks old. I weigh 15 pounds now so I'll probably be around 60 pounds when I'm fully grown. <br/><br/>My sister and I were found in the backyard of a Vet Tech's home and she took us in and is taking great care of us. I love playing with my sister but we aren't a bonded pair so I am looking for a forever family of my own. As you can see in my photos, I'm so cute and my Foster Mom thinks I'm very smart because I listen so well and I'm doing great with my house-training. I love playing with other dogs and puppies and am having a great time playing with lots of toys. I've been to the Vet and I'm totally healthy and up to date on all my puppy vaccinations. I am hoping a wonderful family finds me and I can come live with them and be part of their family. I would love a fenced in yard so I can play and romp around and let my puppy zoomies out. Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
