Bam Bam's Story

Pebbles and Bam Bam are hoping you can help them. They have quite a story to tell.

They have been together for 13 years. They had a nice home and appear to be well taken care of. But when their owner had medical issues and could no longer take care of them she felt she had no choice but to surrender them to a shelter.

Unfortunately, her timing was bad and because right now so many dogs are being surrendered many shelters are euthanizing owner surrenders since they only have enough room to hold the stray dogs, that legally they have to hold. So Pebbles and Bam Bam were scheduled to be euthanized. We heard about them and knew we didn't have a foster who could take two dogs, but we LOVE Shih-Tzu's and could not let them down, so we went and got them, but did have to separate them into separate foster homes. Of course we knew this was better than the alternative, but our goal was to try to get them back together.

That's where you come in. We are looking for someone who will adopt them together. They are actually both doing great in their foster homes, and they really get along with any dog, but we would love for them to be together again.
They are both 13 years old. They are sweet as can be and just want to be with their people. They actually are pretty healthy for 13. We think Bam Bam does have some hearing loss and Pebbles has limited vision, but they both get around fine. Pebbles needs eye drops twice a day but they are not on any other medication. Their bloodwork looks good and although my guess is they will have typical Shih-Tzu skin allergies in the spring, neither of them are on any medication.

They may have been housebroken at one time, but because of the horrible ice and snow we have had, it's hard to tell. Pebbles does go outside but also uses a pee pad. Bam Bam does need to go out often during the day. He probably would have an accident if alone more than 4 hours but he will wear a belly band. I think once they get into a routine they will do well.

These two adorable dogs are very sweet and pretty easy to care for, so we hope someone is looking to adopt two little cuties.

They are located in Williamsburg, Va.
For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org
