Balto's Story

Balto is a handsome Shepherd/Anatolian mix currently settling into life in a foster home, where he's starting to feel more at ease. While he's still on the shy side, he's made great progress and is showing more of his sweet personality every day. Once he warms up, Balto is incredibly loving, affectionate, and downright adorable. He can be cautious when meeting new people or adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings, so he'll do best in a calm, patient home where he can build trust at his own pace. He absolutely loves going for walks, and that outdoor time helps bring out his confidence. Balto gets along well with other dogs, but he's not a fan of cats. Because he can be sensitive to new environments and loud activity, we recommend a calm home with older children (8+). Balto is looking for someone who will meet him where he's at-someone who understands that trust takes time, but that it's worth every moment.

Balto came to ARF with the support of the Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation.
