He is shy when meeting new people and startles with quick movements, but give him a moment and he’ll make the first move — gently stepping in for pets and soaking up the affection once he knows he’s safe. When he chooses you, it feels a little like being let into a secret club.<br/><br/>Once settled, his Husky side shines bright. He’s talkative, expressive, and known to sprinkle in some zoomies, happy hops, and enthusiastic stick-collecting sessions. He loves being outside, stretching his legs, and exploring every scent like it’s part of a grand expedition.<br/><br/>Balto does best with a calm, confident canine friend. Having another dog around helps him feel confident and keeps his mild separation anxiety in check. He enjoys being part of the pack, even if he’s not always in the center of the action. He thrives in a home where he can both play and take his own space when needed.<br/><br/>He’s making progress with house training but may have accidents when he’s unsure or needs to go — he gives subtle signals, so learning his cues will be key. He uses his crate as a safe retreat and does well when given a space of his own, especially at night.<br/><br/>Because Balto is still building confidence, he needs a home with a fenced yard. Older kids (10+) could possibly be a good fit, especially kids who understand that trust takes a little time to grow.<br/><br/>Balto isn’t the kind of dog who barges into your life — he quietly trots in, looks around, and then decides you’re his person. And once he does, you’ll have a loyal, clever, slightly quirky adventure buddy for life.
