Balboa's Story

MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com

Balboa is a 3-year-old English Bulldog mix with a sturdy, lovable frame and a personality to match. He’s got classic Bulldog charm—muscular, broad-faced, short-legged, and sporting an unmistakably adorable snout.

Balboa is affectionate, loyal, and thrives on spending time with his people. He’s always up for snuggles or lounging around the house, though he still enjoys daily walks and playtime. He walks well on a leash, making strolls around the neighborhood enjoyable. When the day winds down, he’s perfectly happy to settle in for some quality couch time. Balboa has absolutely no concept of personal space—canine or human—so anyone interested in him must be prepared for constant companionship in the form of a bowling ball on legs. Barreling his way through all aspects of life, Balboa has never met a stranger (human or dog) who doesn’t immediately fall in love with him.

Children are some of his favorite humans. Though their laps may be smaller, Balboa has the determination to make it work. He would thrive in a home with rough-and-tumble kids who are ready to make room for a lovable house hippo in all their activities.

Balboa is crate trained and potty trained, though true to his Bulldog nature, bitter cold days are not his favorite and may require a little extra patience. He has made friends with most of the dogs he’s met, but he does not get along with cats, so a feline-free home is needed for him.

True to his Bulldog roots, Balboa has a stubborn streak a mile wide. He’s far more motivated by treats than praise, and food is definitely the key to his heart. With consistent routines, plenty of love, and the right snacks, Balboa will thrive as a devoted, playful companion who brings big personality, endless laughs, and even bigger cuddles to his forever home.

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the first thing to do is submit an application for approval. All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the rescue location as it is a privately run boarding, training & grooming facility. Individual meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters.

Age: 3 years
Adoption Fee: $350
