Her one quirk is that she only likes to use the bathroom off leash in an enclosed area. She needs a yard - with a yard she's 100% pottytrained. We aren't exactly sure of her breed - she was rescued from Kosovo. She has this amazing soft fur - doesn't shed - and such a wonderful personality. She is also truly incredible with children - many dogs have a hard time with kids - not her - so if you're a family with kids and a yard DO NOT SLEEP ON HER!!! <br/><br/>This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. After just a week she's settled into a routine with me, and now it's hard to imagine life without her. She starts every day with her trademark full-body stretch and a ton of energy for playing and running around, but an hour later, she is totally content to just lounge around the house for the rest of the day. Be prepared for her to plop right next to you on the couch and put her head on your lap until you offer scratches! She LOVES toys and enrichment puzzles. Her favorite right now is a big fish plushie, which she carries around like a prize, squeaks like crazy, before curling up and falling asleep with it. She also completely bonded with my dog, Kiwi. They especially love tug-of-war. Baby is so gentle that she literally lets Kiwi win every single time In the short amount of time I've had her she's become a legend in my apartment building, including with my neighbors kids, who are just 5 and 7 years old, and she is very patient with. When she came to me she refused to pee and poop when she's walking on the leash. I just let her out in the yard about four times a day, she does her business in under 5 minutes, and comes right back in. More recently, she's made huge strides with this and has gone potty while on leash a handful of times! She is such a confident adaptable dog that all of the problems she came to me with have dissipated. Because she is so food motivated (especially if you cook her a little salmon, which she goes crazy for) she is extremely easy to train! With a little food, all of her puppy fears, like being scared of moving doors, have subsided."<br/><br/>Level of dog ownership experience required:<br/>INTERMEDIATE – As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it's also tremendous work. Puppies' personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they're a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup's evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult.<br/><br/>Energy level:<br/>MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute morning walk or window of quick paced exercise in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant opportunities to socialize outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they're understimulated.) <br/><br/>TOLERANCE TO CITY<br/>City pup – Total city dog. Fire trucks, motorcycles, loud crowds, she is completely unfazed. She is nervous in cars, but is still getting used to it, and because she is so adaptable it shouldn't be an issue for someone who drives regularly.<br/><br/>POTTY TRAINING<br/>Yes — She still requires a backyard to do business for the most part. When she has consistent access to a backyard she is totally potty trained and will not have accidents in the house. I am VERY happy to say she is beginning to 'get' going potty on the leash and at parks!!<br/><br/>COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERS<br/>Social butterfly – She is not shy at all with strangers. She likes dogs more than people, but loves people once she gets to know them! She is already used to my best friends who come to the house frequently and can't wait to greet them.<br/><br/>BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision)<br/>Yes for most ages – very confident, gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy. <br/><br/>SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGS<br/>Yes – Good with most other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other canines. She can be pawsy and is still a puppy, so she can be annoying to older dogs (although my 5 year old dog FEEDS off of her friendly energy)<br/><br/>RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.)<br/>Yes. - would be okay in a home with kids <br/><br/>MOUTHY BEHAVIOR<br/>Working on it – She is still learning what is a dog toy vs a shoe. This is just because she is a puppy; she is very adept at learning boundaries. She does not chew on furniture.<br/><br/>SEPARATION ANXIETY (Please leave your foster dog home alone every day for at least 20 minutes.) <br/>Past this stage – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn't cry or exhibit destructive behavior when you leave the apartment or house. When I first began fostering her she did have moderate separation anxiety, but because she is so confident and adaptable a few weeks of training made all the difference and I am happy to say she has almost NO signs of separation anxiety anymore.<br/><br/>LEASH MANNERS<br/>Getting the hang of it – Baby is still learning how not to pull on the leash. She has come such a long way in the last week, but gets excited when passing dogs on the street and needs some reinforcement to behave properly in those situations.<br/><br/>CUDDLE BUG LEVEL<br/>Medium – The perfect mix of independent and affectionate! She loves cuddling next to me, but also loves to sleep on a giant bean bag in another room when she wants quiet alone time.<br/><br/>JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLO<br/>Listens to correction – Only jumps on people they know when really excited, stops with correction.<br/><br/>CRATE TRAINING<br/>Yep/mostly – We use the crate when we leave the pup alone and she sleeps in it at night. She loves being in her crate and spends a lot of time there unprompted.<br/><br/>Medical status:<br/>Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. (For dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.)<br/><br/>How did this dog end up with Social Tees?<br/>Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives. <br/><br/>PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old).
