Aya was an owner surrender due to their housing issues. Aya was in danger of being euthanized due to the overcrowding conditions at the shelter.<br/><br/>A wonderful woman stepped up to save her life.<br/><br/>These are AYA"s STATS <br/><br/>Approximate age : 2-4 years old<br/>Approximate weight : 37 lbs<br/>Breed (s) Mixed Breed<br/>Spayed or neutered? Spayed<br/> <br/>Good with: <br/>kids? <br/>Yes, recommended age 12+ and dog savvy kids due to her energy level and history of nipping. <br/><br/>strangers? <br/>Yes, often gets overexcited when meeting new people so she does need structure and leashed greetings to start but she is entirely friendly and overly affectionate with people. <br/><br/>other dogs? <br/>Yes, in the shelter playgroups Aya displayed playful interest and loose body language around dogs. In the yard she often engaged in push and pull play style, moving fast, and sometimes escalating to nippy/mouthy behaviors mimicking a herding play style. This was well tolerated by most dogs; however she was observed to not respond well to a correction from a dog that did not tolerate her play style. For this reason, I would say she is dog friendly but needs to be well matched with a playful companion, and monitored so she can better learn how to regulate around dogs. <br/><br/>In the foster home she has not directly interacted with dogs off leash. She has done minimal leash greetings and can come in pretty hot. Walking around the city, if not managed, she will fixate her attention on dogs. Easily able to disengage from small animals on leash with food involved, and could potentially coexist with cats but it would require an excessive amount of time and training. <br/><br/>On leash?<br/>Walks very well on leash, offering frequent check ins with handler! <br/><br/>Housetrained? <br/>Yes, with the caveat that she has only ever gone to the bathroom in our backyard (small city pavement so she does not require much). For this reason her adopters should have a backyard accessible - she has never gone to the bathroom on a walk and Im not certain that she would easily train to transfer bathroom habits to on-leash walks (we have tried with zero success). <br/><br/>Crate trained? <br/>Yes<br/> <br/>Preferred forever home for your foster?<br/>Experienced adopters who have an active lifestyle/could cater to a high energy dog. Potentially living with a dog companion. Yard required (of any size!). Someone interested in continued training and mental enrichment. <br/> <br/>Interesting quirks/behaviors:<br/>Incredibly smart dog, eager to please and attached to her people. Will happily romp around playing by herself, flinging toys across the room. Extremely affectionate, her version of cuddling involves stomping on you and throwing all her weight on you with little regard for personal space. She often melts on the floor for belly rubs. Perfect running buddy or hiking companion, always along for the ride. Allows all handling (even if she snags something she shouldnt have in an emergency you can take things out of her mouth with no issue). Quick learner - she knows sit, down, touch, spin, leave it, stay, wait, paw, go potty, some city agility and Im sure she will acquire more tricks every day! <br/> <br/>Issues:<br/>Over-arousal, mouthiness
