Axl's Story
Looking for a cuddly companion to snuggle up with on these snowy nights? Axl just might be your guy! Axl is possibly a Dachshund/Basset mix around 2 years old and weighs 18#.

Axl is a lowkey, lovable boy who is happiest when he’s close to his people. He’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and content to curl up next to you and just hang out. He’s a calm companion who prefers cuddles over chaos.

He is quiet and well mannered in his crate and rarely barks. In his foster home, he does well with other dogs and cats, mostly choosing to ignore them in favor of soaking up human attention. He is doing so well with potty training, but will need someone to continue working with him on this.

We don’t know about Axl’s past, but he can occasionally resource guard food or items if something is dropped and he grabs it. He has not shown this behavior toward other dogs. We recommend crate feeding and “trading up,” and we are happy to provide guidance and resources to help set everyone up for success.

To support Axl and his future family, he comes with a 6-week training course at Fur Better Fur Worse Dog Training. We reimburse for each class attended. This helps us make the most of our rescue resources while giving Axl the structure and support he deserves. Because of his needs, he is looking for a home without young children.

Axl is a laid-back guy who takes life in stride and would love nothing more than a calm home to relax and be loved in.

Axl is neutered, current on vaccines and prevention, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300. To meet Axl, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt. As a reminder, we are not a shelter location and require a scheduled meet and greet.

Adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities. All pets currently in the home must be routinely kept up to date on shots, prevention and fixed to be approved for adoption.
