Aviva's Story

Meet Avila!

Meet Aviva

Aviva is a sweet, playful 1 year old basset mix with a heart as big as her personality.

She came to us after being found as a stray on a Texas highway. When she arrived, she had severe skin injuries and was underweight. Thanks to lots of care, Aviva has gained 8 pounds, her skin has healed, and her soft fur is growing back beautifully.

Now that she's feeling better, her true self is shining. She loves playing with other dogs, digging through the toy box, curling up on a faux fur blanket, and falling asleep to ocean sounds. She's doing good with potty training, thrives on routine, and settles nicely into her crate at night after a short protest.

Aviva is also a bit of a princess. She avoids wet grass whenever possible, loves hanging out near the pantry, and sometimes misses the couch with her back end when jumping because she doesn't realize how long she is.

Like many rescue dogs who have experienced food insecurity, Aviva can be protective of high-value treats, chews, and food. She does well when fed and given treats inside her crate.

Heartworm negative, dog friendly, and impossible not to adore, Aviva is ready to find the family she's been waiting for.

Could that family be yours?

Please stay tuned as we learn more about her.
