Available - Harry's Story

Socialization: Harry is a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly. He is great when meeting new dogs. He is very playful. He has lived in a foster home with other dogs and cats and has never had any issues. He mostly ignores the cats. He does love to look at the bunnies and squirrels in the yard and will point every one out to you.

Training: He knows his name and will come when called. He will sit sometimes, but he is a bit of a squiggle butt. He is housetrained and has no issues with chewing or stealing items.

Crate trained: He was crated when we first started fostering him, but there has been no need to crate him since we became sure it was safe for him and all the other animals for him to be out.

Leash trained: All his outside walks are leashed. He walks well both alone and as part of a group. He does not pull. He looks at the bunnies and squirrels, but does not try running after them. He is friendly with other dogs being walked.

Activity level/requirements: We take him for walks around the block 4-5 times per day. In the house he is mostly content with laying around, but is interested in what we are doing so will follow us around to make sure we are not alone.

Fence requirements: There is no requirement of a fenced in yard. We believe that he can thrive being walked on a leash.

Personality: Harry is the sweetest gentlest soul. He loves to receive love. He does not snuggle on a chair or couch if you are on it, but will lay on it if unoccupied. He is comfortable on his blanket on the dog bed. He is a little shy at first and may stand behind you when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and loves to be loved. He does like investigating noises in the house, so he may follow you around.

Health history: UTD on vaccinations, is spayed/neutered, microchipped, & on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He is on an allergy vaccine and the adopter will need to continue following his regime and find a dermatologist in their area that can continue making his vaccine.

Foster comments: There are not enough nice things I can say about Harry. He has been through so much and has come out the other side with his tail wagging. He is friendly and gentle. He loves everyone he meets. He has been fine with other dogs and cats. We would be looking for a forever home that understands and is able to continue his allergy treatments so that he never has to know another uncomfortable day. We have been fostering him for over a year and are amazed at his progress medically and hope to see that continued.

Foster Location: Fleetwood, PA

Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home. If interstate transport is provided for your adopted dog, there will be an additional charge of $75.00 for the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI). Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000-mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000-mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far Western states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions.
