Meet Ava
"Meet Ava!
59lbs, 6 year old, Female, Collie / Shepherd.
DDO with sweet lady Ava:
Ava did great in the car - she jumped right in & laid down. We started the day out with a walk on some trails at the park. Ava prefers to take the lead on her walks, she knows where she's going and keeps her nose to the ground almost the entire time (exceptions were the stops for affection, treats, and pictures). She's a strong girl don't let her fool you!
Affection = little spurts of energy for Ava, she loves it. Did I mention she LOVES a little adventure? I think she would've walked on the trails all day if she could!
Ava knows sit and down, and will do anything for a yummy treat! She acts like a lady, did not jump on me or anyone we met on the trail, and gently takes her treats. She did not make a bark our whole time together.
Next we rode to the humans house for a little break on the porch where we got lots of pets and love. Soon she was ready to go go go again, so we took a brief stroll around the neighborhood.
We ended our day together with a trip to the drive through coffee bar where Ava got a pup cup - plus the much wanted attention from all of the humans - and of course she ate it like a lady, carefully getting the whipped cream out without making a mess.
Ava will make a great companion and is at the GCAS waiting on her furever home!"
Ava has had positive interactions with other dogs outside of the shelter, but her owner informed us that she can be reactive on leash so it's best not to do introductions on leash. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
