Auggie's Story

Auggie could be that dream come true pup for active retirees who love spending their time with a very lovable and super-smart companion. We feel that Auggie would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Auggie's family because as a smaller guy, we want to make certain that he's always handled gently and with respect.

Auggie, at a perfect small/medium 27 lbs (the perfect portable size to go everywhere a great little dog is welcome) and 1 year old is such a great age, old enough to be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. He is believed to be a Jack Russel / Cattle Dog mix, although his breed is just an (educated) guess by the shelter vets. We do not DNA test rescue dogs so do not know for sure.

Auggie loves playing and once comfortable in his new home, will be entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to share with his family.

Auggie's story is all too common. He was found as a stray in Houston, Texas, and brought into a horrible, high-kill shelter. However, luck was with sweet Auggie. He was saved from the shelter due to his adorable looks (these photos don't do his cuteness justice), engaging manner and very sweet and loving personality.

Auggie's sleek coat is currently a bit shelter-sad. Once he's given the gift of great nutrition, his coat will grow in shining and cottony-soft. Research shows that a human-grade diet like Chi Dog Food (chidog.com) can be instrumental in both the wellness and longevity of the dog. With this regimen, Auggie's coat will become cottony-soft and shining with excellent health.

Auggie will do well with a family that's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a fun participant in any adventure. It can be a walk or a hike, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together on the couch - all would speak to Auggie's great temperament and love of his family.

Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. Retirees or a younger family that works from a home-based office would be a far better choice for our wonderful pup. He's a sensitive little guy and we'd like him to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.

Auggie will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He'll also be neutered to stay true to Farfel's work to eradicate euthanasia due to overpopulation in the canine population.

Auggie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 5/10/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving, sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Auggie, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
