Atlas's Story

Atlas

Meet Atlas, a thoughtful, docile, quiet, and inquisitive eight-year-old who weighs fifteen pounds! He's low energy and a bit independent, and he's still settling into his new home after a long journey from Texas. He's making wonderful progress each day — he's already jumped onto the couch, started following his people into the kitchen, rolled onto his back for pets, and even shown interest in the neighbors on the street.

He does great being left alone with no signs of distress, and is still learning about leashes and potty training, taking outdoor time in small, gentle doses as he continues building confidence. He's a total foodie who loves cheese and seems right at home in the kitchen, and he loves blankets, burrowing in, and claiming the top of the couch as his favorite perch — quite the little mountain goat!

Atlas has gorgeous markings and looks like a delightful mix of several small breeds, with a super soft, spotted belly and big folded-over ears that are almost as charming as he is. He's brave in his own quiet way, and his foster expects he'll continue opening up more and more with time, patience, and a little space to call his own.

Atlas would do best with a calm, patient adopter — ideally a single older person or couple who enjoys a quiet, slow-paced lifestyle. He's a great fit for apartment living, and while it's still early to know for sure, given his low-key nature, he'd likely do well with another easygoing dog too.

**INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?**
To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
