Atlas's Story
🐾 Meet Your Next Adventure Buddy 🐾

This handsome 83-lb Alaskan Malamute mix is about 1 year and 3 months old and ready to find a home that understands his energy, intelligence, and drive. He’s still very much a big puppy learning the ropes of adulthood.

Atlas came to us as an owner surrender. He already knows basic commands and is a smart, capable young dog who will thrive with structure and consistency.

He has lived with a pug and has been reported to do well with female dogs. He does not get along well with male dogs, so if there is another dog in the home, a meet-and-greet is recommended.

He has been reported to be good with older kids. Because of his size and strength, respectful interactions and supervision are important. He is not a fit for homes with cats or small animals.

He is still working on potty training and house manners, so his new family should be prepared to continue consistent training. Like many Malamute-type dogs, he is strong, intelligent, and benefits from regular exercise and mental stimulation. A fenced yard is recommended, or another reliable way for him to safely burn energy.

About him:
• 1 year, 3 months old
• Male
• 83 pounds
• Not neutered
• Large, active working-breed mix
This is not a couch-potato dog. He will do best in an active home that understands working breeds and is ready to invest time into training and enrichment.

Adoptions are first-come, first-served.
Dog adoption fee: $45

Geographical adoption restrictions apply due to unaltered status.

📍 Stafford County Animal Shelter
26 Frosty Lane
Stafford, VA 22554

He’s young.
