There is no just keep walking by with Athena. She will direct her missile of a body straight toward her sights of person and dog alike outside in hopes of saying hello. As happy as can be, she barrels down the hall to greet you at the door as fast as she can and launches herself right into you for pets and lots of kisses. Don’t worry about ever sitting or laying down alone when Athena is around; she will make sure she is draped right across you to give you all her love and affection, and has mastered the art of lounging, but as soon as you’re able to get up, she jumping up to immediately follow you and be your sidekick to see what your day brings. She greets the world always with a huge grin on her face, ready to charm the next passerby. A true firework of excitement is this porkchop of love.

Mission Compassion Paw Rescue's Adoption Policy

MCP is a Chicago foster based rescue. We focus on dogs who need extra advocacy, including: Pit bull-type dogs, senior animals, animals with medical or behavioral needs, and bonded pairs. We don’t view adoption as placing animals, we view it as welcoming new humans into our Pack. Because of this, our process is intentionally thoughtful and hands-on. Many approved applications ultimately result in us recommending a different dog with stronger match potential. This is part of our responsibility as advocates and something we are known and respected for. Our adoption process typically includes at least three meetings (often more) to ensure a strong, lasting match. These meetings allow time to build a relationship, communicate openly, and support a healthy transition. We are full disclosure, we know our animals well and are honest about their needs. We're hands-on from first meet-and-greet through decompression and beyond, and we are comfortable saying no at any point if the fit isn’t right. We look for organic connections and humans who understand that successful Forever relationships take time, patience, and commitment. Going slow matters to us, for our animals and for our humans. Important Adoption Expectations: All potential adopters are expected to meet their match at least three times with all household members participating in the process. Out-of-state adoptions may be considered for exceptional matches only. Multiple visits to the Chicagoland area are required. We do not ship animals. We do not allow: Gifting animals, surprise adoptions, or any adoptions without full household involvement. Adoption Fees: Dogs: $600 | Bonded pairs: $900 | Cats: $250, $325 for a pair We hold our animals and our humans close. Quality over quantity. Always.
