Athena's Story

Athena a Siberian Husky mix came in with her five puppies and all have been adopted except for one. The finder unfortunately couldn't keep her due to her harassing their chickens. This means she can't be around cats, but she is great with every dog she's ever met. She is not only gorgeous, but has a heart of gold. She loves meeting new people and making them her friends; kids of all ages are required to be her pals. Your side will never get cold because she loves to lean on you and look up with the saddest puppy dog eyes to beg for attention. Like most Huskies, though, she is vocal but isn't mean in the slightest. Pools are probably her favorite thing in the summertime; she has a blast getting the zoomies and splashing her friends. She's housebroke and tries her best to hold it, if she can't she'll do it at the back of her pen by the drain as to stay out of it. This retired momma just wants a place to call her own and someone to go on adventures with, even if it's just a walk down the block.

Allen County Animal Rescue Facility's Adoption Policy
HOW TO ADOPT FROM ACARF: So you’ve met one of our cats or dogs whom you want to make part of your family? That’s great! What’s the next step? First, you need to fill out an application. You can fill out and submit an online adoption application or fill one out at the shelter. Please allow us a minimum of 24 hours to review your application and check with your vet and landlord (if applicable). Although it helps to be the first person to file an application for a pet, this may not guarantee that you will actually be the chosen adopter. Our first concern must always be finding the best situation–for our adopters, and for our adoptable pets. Once you have been approved to adopt an animal, we will make an appointment with our contracted veterinary care provider (Countryside Veterinary) to have your pet spayed or neutered. Spaying/neutering our adopted animals is required by the State of Kansas. In addition, we now microchip all our adopted pets before they leave the shelter. Our adoption fee includes up-to-date shots, your pet’s spay/neuter surgery, plus microchipping. When your paperwork is completed, the adoption fee has been paid, spaying/neutering is done, and your dog/cat has been microchipped, you can take your new pet home! Usually, you can pick up your pet the next day following their spay/neuter surgery, at the shelter. Whoever said, "money can't buy love," never paid an adoption fee! Welcome to a lifetime of love and happiness!
