Arrow's Story

Meet Arrow! Arrow is a bright, active dog who brings a fun mix of enthusiasm and sweetness to every outing. He's the kind of companion who's ready to get out and explore, whether that's a walk around the neighborhood or a longer adventure where he can really stretch his legs. He moves with purpose on leash and can be strong at times, especially when something catches his interest, but he's been making nice progress and responds well to guidance.

He's an engaged learner who clearly enjoys training and working with his person. Arrow already knows cues like sit, down, and paw, and enjoys training sessions. He's food-motivated and attentive, and he seems to like having something to focus on, which can make learning new things a fun outlet for him.

Arrow can take a little time to settle into new environments, but he handles it thoughtfully; taking things in, observing, and gaining confidence as he goes. As he gets more comfortable, his personality really starts to open up, showing off a playful, affectionate side. He enjoys time outside, following his nose, and being part of whatever his person is doing.

He's met children and has done well with them and would likely do best with respectful interactions as he continues building confidence. Around other dogs, Arrow has shown social, polite behavior. He's comfortable coexisting, enjoys calm company, and is happy to engage in social sniffs. He's still figuring out his play style and may prefer slower introductions, especially with more energetic dogs.

With a mix of activity, structure, and downtime, Arrow has all the makings of a really rewarding companion.

Arrow at a glance:

Age: 5 years old
Personality: Active, sweet, thoughtful, a bit shy at first but warms up nicely
Training: Knows sit, down, and paw (offers paw/hand touch); enjoys training and is food-motivated; working on leash skills
Favorite Activities: Walks, exploring, sniffing adventures, training games, and spending time with his people

SPCA of Southwest Michigan's Adoption Policy
We have same day adoptions! You are welcome to visit our shelter anytime during our open hours. When you visit, you can either look through the kennel first or go into a meet and greet room with an available animal of interest. In the meet and greet room, we will let you spend time with the animal and read off their file. If you have a dog at home, you can bring them along with you to do a dog-to-dog meet and greet. The main question we ask is if you own or rent your home. If you rent we check your pet policy. Bring your pet policy with you; as that is the quickest way for us to check. Once that clears, all you would need to do is fill out an adoption contract and pay their adoption fee. They would go home with you after that! If you are adopting a cat, you are welcome to bring your own carrier with you. We do have carriers to borrow or cardboard boxes to send home with you if you do not have one. If you are adopting a dog, you are welcome to bring your own leash and collar. We do have leashes and collars to send home with you as well. Holds We offer holds over the phone and in-person. The hold fee is $50 and is non-refundable. Holds over the phone are for 24 hours and holds in-person are for 48 hours.
