Arizona's Story

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

TO APPLY:
1) copy/paste this link https://gdrne.com/adopt/adoption-application/
2) OR at the bottom of the page click on "Adoption Policy" and then it will bring up the adoption application.

Meet Arizona, a 3-year-old Foxhound / Great Pyrenees mix, weighing 51 pounds (as of 5/18/26). Arizona was found as a pregnant stray in Mississippi but she's on her way to New England and can't wait to tell you all about herself!

This super snuggly girl will be the perfect companion for anyone who loves to chill on the couch after a long day. Arizona loves her people and you can often find her following them around like an adorable shadow. Sweet as Arizona Iced Tea and as beautiful as the Grand Canyon, this girl will charm strangers and everyone she meets.

While Arizona has lived with other dogs, she'd prefer to be a solo dog in her future household. Sometimes if she sees a dog through her fence, she'll bark to let them know she sees them. She's crated at night and she's great on a leash-though she'll pull ahead at first. She LOVES going on walks and there's just so much to see! Arizona doesn't have experience with kids or cats yet, but perhaps an introduction is in her future. This sweet girl is still learning the ways of potty training, so she hopes her future family will have loads of patience. Who knows? If you help her out, she'll show the best spots to get views of the Grand Canyon! Don't forget to post your pictures! Come on, Arizona awaits!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Arizona, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
