Arfie is about kind & gentle humans, a warm and cozy home, 2 squares and snacks every day, and a life where Arfie is loved.<br/><br/>Arfie is a sweet and adorable 7.3 pound 3 year old Miniature Dachshund mix. He is so happy to feel safe and loved in rescue. Life has not been easy for this little man. Will you give him the life he so deserves? <br/><br/>He is fostered in the tiny town of Cascadia, about an hour from Sisters, Eugene, Corvallis, Salem. About 2 from Newport and Portland. We will meet partway for folks traveling from a distance.<br/><br/>He is cuddly, enjoys being warm, napping in a lap or by the wood stove. He likes car rides, other dogs, food and squeaky toys. He enjoys a nice weather walk. <br/><br/>Like many of his Dachshund brethren, Arfie will bark at times, mostly when hearing or seeing new things. On his one city walk in Portland, Arfie barked at passing dogs and humans. He barked at the novelty, rather than due to reactivity. A quieter area, or patience and rewarding quiet and look-at-me behavior will help with barking, as will patience and postive reward based training. In all ways, In all ways, Arfie is doing better every day. <br/><br/>Arfie is about 90% there, and does well when his humans' take him out and rewarding success with a treat. Arfie does have a scar on his nose that is visible in photos. It is from his past and is healed. <br/><br/>He is neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and de-wormed. His adoption fee is $400. <br/><br/>Given Arfie's past, we think it best if he has an adult only family. Dog savvy and gentle teens are fine. Arfie met a cat in a room and barked a bit but was not prey driven. We do not know if he would live with a cat well. <br/><br/>A great home and must haves for this boy include:<br/><br/>1. An owned home with a securely fenced yard. <br/>2. Folks ideally not gone long hours. <br/>3. Dachshund and rescue experienced adopters. <br/>4.
