A bundle of Aussie wrapped up in a tiny "toy" version at 12lbs of adorable who won't be getting much bigger...that's Archer!<br/><br/>Archer came to us as a breeder release when they realized at 5 weeks old and only 1.5lbs that he just "wasn't normal." He had a congenital condition called hypospadias. In his case, the prepuce or skin covering of his penis, had not fully formed and he was born with a fully exposed penis. Luckily, all of the plumbing was working the way it was supposed to, but aesthetically and medically, he needed surgery to repair this issue. He was referred to a board certified surgeon who successfully corrected Archer's hypospadias. Now, you'd never know! Archer also came to us with an under developed right rear paw. He only has one toe on his paw and his bones and cartilage never developed the way they should. After multiple consultations with veterinarians and his surgeon, it was decided that Archer does not need surgery and that he may just have a bit of a "hitch" in his step on occasion. This could eventually stop or could lead to some earlier arthritic changes in that foot. Either way, it doesn't slow our little Arch man down at all and for him, it's just the way it's always been. <br/><br/>Archer is all Aussie! He just happens to be an energetic, happy and fluffy Red Tri bred with the term "compact" in mind. So don't let that small size fool you! Archer can keep up with the best of them! He's built for speed and good times and he thrives with other dogs of all sizes! In fact, doggy daycare is one of his favorite places to frequent! He LOVES to play and is especially thrilled when he has a kiddie pool or any source of water to cool off in. This guy is a water dog! <br/><br/>Archer is incredibly smart. He aims to please and learns quickly. He is not a couch potato and even though he's only 12lbs, he's got the mind and drive of a working, energetic breed. He will do best in a home where he can be a part of the action and adventure, hike, run, play and stay busy with his humans...another four legged sibling is an added bonus! ;-) He also loves the kitties in his foster home and does very well with them. He will engage with them when they want to play, but otherwise minds their space. Archer adores humans and while he does well with children of all sizes, we recommend a forever home with older children. Archer has an innate tendency to "herd" when playing. Small, young children can be hard to resist when you're bred to keep everyone in line. <br/><br/>At 6 months old, Archer is doing very well with potty training. He got a bit of a late start while navigating his hypospadias but lucky for us, Archer is quick to pick up anything. With consistency, he's not having any accidents in his foster home and is currently working on bell training so Archer has a good way to signal he needs to go out. He is wonderfully crate trained and does not have any accidents in his crate. He's still a young puppy at 6 months old and had quite a medical journey so continued training along with physical and mental stimulation is going to be important for his success. He is going to make a wonderful companion for a lover of small, active breeds! <br/><br/>Archer's adoption fee includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations, dewormings and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
