APPA's Story

Hi! My name is Appa and I am available for adoption. I was brought in by my previous owner on April 29, 2026 because I didn't get along well with the resident male dogs in the home and can be quite anxious around children. I am friendly with adults, crate-trained, potty-trained, walk great on leash and super sweet! I weigh 58 lbs and am considered a large breed dog. My previous owner wanted to say this to whomever adopts me, Dear Appa’s New Family, Thank you for opening your home and your hearts to Appa. Writing this letter is incredibly difficult for us, but it also brings us comfort knowing he is going to a family who is willing to love him the way he deserves. We’ve had Appa since he was just 8 weeks old, and for the past six years he has been a deeply loved member of our family. He is an amazing dog with so much personality, intelligence, and love to give. One of the first things you’ll notice about him is how eager he is to please. He learns incredibly quickly!! When we taught him how to spin, he picked it up in just a few minutes. He truly thrives when he’s engaged and learning, especially when treats are involved, as he is very food motivated. He loves a good mount biking ride and knows how to follow or stay in front of you and be out of the way. On these kinds of activities he usually doesn’t even notice other people passing by. Appa absolutely loves to play fetch, especially with his favorite ball which we left him with. It’s one of his happiest activities, and it’s a great way to bond with him and burn off his energy. At the end of the day though his favorite place is right next to his people. He loves to cuddle and just be close, and those quiet moments are when his sweet nature really comes out. Please know that this decision did not come easily to us. It has been one of the hardest choices we’ve ever had to make. We love Appa dearly, and letting him go was done with careful thought and with his best interest and the other dogs in our home in mind. More than anything, we want him to have a life where he can thrive, feel safe, and be deeply loved. We hope he brings you as much joy, laughter, and companionship as he has brought us. He is truly a special dog, and he deserves the very best. Thank you again for giving Appa a loving home.
