Meet Antonio
Ay, caramba! Little Antonio is quite the Casanova!
Coming from a hoarding situation with about 40 other dogs, 7-year-old Chihuahua mix Antonio was exceedingly fearful at first. It took some time and patience to coax him out of his shell (it’s likely the first time he’s experienced touch and affection) but now he’s a little lover with his foster! Once he trusts you, Antonio shows his gratitude by thoroughly cleaning your face with kisses and by sticking to your side like glue.
Antonio is catching on to the house rules quickly, making great progress on housebreaking, crate-training, and only chewing on his own toys. He’s a fast learner and has already mastered a host of commands, including sit, go potty, off, and watch me. Bacon helps. A lot.
Because of his past, we are recommending a quiet household for Antonio (no kids, only because he frightens so easily) with humans who understand that he’ll need additional decompression time. He seems to be fine with other dogs, particularly females. Your patience will be richly rewarded: once Antonio trusts you, he loves you with all his heart.
Need an adoring sidekick? Consider handsome little Antonio.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.
Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.
Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
