Annie's Story

Annie is the best girl for her foster Mom!
She goes to work woth her! She is a seasoned pro at traveling! She walks on a loose leash and does her business on leash in a flash! She even has her own pair of Crocs to wear when the pavement is hot!
She is fine with cats but prefers to be an only dog. She will come exist but they will not be friends.
Now for the other side of Annie-
Annie was dumped by her owner on social media. Handed her over to a perfect stranger at the end of a leash while her owner just drove away. Annie was in a panic, the unsuspecting person at the other end of that leash didnt k ow how to get this gal into the car because in her panicked state, Annie became a wild beast. Gnashing teeth, growling, barking lunging, biting!
She was fostered for a few weeks by a very sweet retiree and liked to lie beside her chair for petting but any attempt to pick her up, brush her, or get her to do something she didnt like ended with a bite. The groomer had to muzzle her, too.
Once in her current foster home, there was a 'Come to Jesus ' meeting where Annie was advised that all decisions were now to be made by her human. Annie no longer had to fight to feel safe. She learned that her human would keep her safe! And loved, and fed, and clean!
Her next bath was calm. She was cooperative. No biting, no growling. She went to the Vet and was very brave for most of the visit. But when the Vet started examining past her shoulders, Annie panicked. Her foster Mom gently applied the muzzle, no fighting, and whike Annie remained afraid, the exam continued safely and the Vet suggested some friendly visits to acclimate her to being touched by medical professionals.
We thought Annie would hate children, but one day while at work with her foster Mom, a coworker brought his daughter in to say hello. As you can see by the photo Annie loved it! We were all shocked!
That said, it was a controlled, familiar environment and Annie felt safe.
She will NOT be placed in a home with young children.
She NEEDS a low energy home where she can go for walks and be the only dog.
She is a low key dog and wants a low key life. Whike she may likely still need to be muzzle for Vet visits, I cannot label this dog a biter. She was in crisis when these incidents happened.
She should be fine with a visiting grandchild who is dog savvy and will respect Annie's space and certainly not try to hug or kiss her! Multiple children will make her extremely uncomfortable.
Annie is very well behaved in her foster home but a basic group obedience class with her adopter will be a requirement for placement. She needs that experience to bond and trust her new human. Her foster Mom has made tremendous progress with her and she is ready to find a forever home where she can continue to blossom.
