Annabelle's Story

Annabelle is as sweet as they come. She is a gentle, affectionate soul ready to settle into the good life after spending her early years at a puppy mill. She’s calm, well-behaved, and has already learned to sit politely for treats (yes, she has manners!). She doesn’t jump on people, has only barked twice during her entire time in foster care, and won’t even join in when the neighborhood dogs get noisy. In short: she is a very good girl.

Cuddling and being near her people are Annabelle’s top hobbies. She does fine on her own, but she loves it when her foster humans are around. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be close to you, she’s your girl.

At a petite 16–17 pounds, Annabelle is at a healthy weight, and she’d love to keep it that way! She is new to walks and has really taken to them, trotting along at a good pace with plenty of stops for what we call “sniff-spections.” Keeping her active will be part of helping her thrive, since she does love her food and treats.

Annabelle loves small stuffy toys with squeakers. She’ll chew, zoom, and play until she completely wears herself out.

She does best in a calm environment and tends to be cautious around anything new or startling. She may cower at first, but with patience she comes around. Kids who are calm and gentle will adore her. She’s also perfectly happy sharing a home with cats, since she ignores them!

A few things to know: Annabelle resource guards around food and toys, so she should be separated from other dogs at mealtimes and supervised during play with her favorites. She’s reliably house-trained when given consistent opportunities to go outside — just be ready to clean up after her promptly, as she has the less-than-charming habit of eating her own poop.

Annabelle has come so far and has so much love to give. She’s just waiting for her perfect family to come along.
