Amelia's Story

Cleared for Takeoff

Millie is the tiniest puppy in Macie’s Babies, but absolutely nobody informed her of that fact.

This tiny little Dachshund mix was born January 23rd and somehow came out with the confidence of a frontier pilot and the leg length of a coffee table. We named her Amelia after Amelia Earhart because one of the very first things to grow on this puppy were her EARS. Buddy, those things showed up early and proud like she was preparing for departure from a tiny regional airport.

And once her little legs caught up enough to move? This girl has been in motion ever since.

Millie is TEENY tiny. She’s got the classic little Dachshund body, tiny legs, long shape, oversized ears, and the determined spirit of somebody who thinks height is completely optional.

And man does this girl have an adventurous streak.

While some puppies cautiously approach life, Millie approaches everything like Lewis and Clark with a snack budget and no supervision. New room? She’s investigating it. New toy? Hers now. Bigger puppies wrestling in the yard? She’s already on her way over with those tiny little legs pumping at full speed trying to see what everybody’s got going on.

And despite being the smallest of the litter, Millie is brave. Really brave. She has the same little free spirit her mama Macie has — playful, social, curious, and completely charmed by the world around her. You can already tell this is going to be the kind of dog that turns ordinary daily life into something way more fun just by existing nearby.

She absolutely adores other dogs, has been socialized with dogs of all sizes, exposed to children, and naturally assumes everybody around her is probably a potential friend.

And when this puppy gets excited?

Those giant ears start bouncing while those tiny little Dachshund legs go to work like she’s trying to break a land speed record that only she knows about.

But for all her confidence and adventure, Millie is also unbelievably sweet. At the end of the day, she still wants to curl up close to her people, be held like a baby, and fall asleep somewhere cozy after a long exhausting day of conducting tiny business operations around the house.

Their mama Macie is only around 15 lbs, so we do not expect these babies to get very big, but Millie already has the kind of personality that completely takes over a home.

She feels like road trips with the windows down, laughing at a dog by yourself in the kitchen, hearing tiny feet race across the floor, and realizing the smallest puppy in the room somehow became the biggest personality there.

We love this little girl to absolute pieces.

See more videos of Amelia and the rest of Macie’s Babies here:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL80kWIlZCtlScHMDCGILPtSzAyHPh-8Gf

+++++++

ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://form.jotform.com/260401018308040

+++++++

Amelia is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week!

+++++++

The Truth About Rescue:

Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.

Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

+++++++

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.

Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.

Check out all of our adoptable pups and learn more about our rescue on our website: www.stmuttsrescue.com
