Ame Labrador Retriever Mix Lenoir, NC

Ame is a refreshing rain, washing away the old and cleaning the world - or will at least his world - of sadness. Especially if God sends a family for him!

With a guesstimated birthday of Feb. 2, 2023, Ame arrived at his rescuer's house with a sibling. The sibling couldn't be caught, but Ame was happy to approach people. At 6 months he weighed 32 lb, so will be a smaller lab.

Ame is affectionate and leash savvy. He is quiet in a crate during the night, if there are friends in the same room.

Ame was recently at our social event and happily played with the puppies. He got along with all the new dogs and made friends with all the visitors.

Ame is nervous in a car, primarily because he doesn't get the chance to travel in one often. At about 35 lb, he's light enough for the average person to pick him up and so loads easily.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, and deworming if recommended by our vet. Adult dogs will also have current heartworm test. For puppies over the age of 14 weeks, our adoption fee covers the first 3 puppy vaccines. If the puppy is still in our care at 16 weeks, we will also provide the rabies vaccine.

A vet reference is required only if you are adopting an intact dog over 6 months of age (or the age our attending veterinarian recommends for spay/neuter) to ensure future altering of the dog. A refundable spay/neuter deposit is required for intact dogs/puppies.

Open Adoption Events for Foster Dogs are held on most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Open Adoption Events for Bunch Anderson Shelter Dogs are held every Saturday from noon-4:00 p.m. Please check our FB page for changes in Adoption Event Schedules.

A scheduled Meet & Greet between Adoption Events may be possible by sending an e-mail to: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We do not hold dogs. Fees are required in cash at Tractor Supply.
