Alice's Story
Alice has been here in foster in Maine, for quite some time, and we'd love to find her forever home! Since coming to Maine, she's been in two foster homes (the first went on a vacation and had to transfer her) and both have ABSOLUTELY loved her. She was originally adopted and returned due to not being good with the cat in the home, however she currently lives with a cat and does just fine. She has also lived with rabbits and other dogs. Her foster says: "Foster girl Alice is a large 2 year old girl around 90 pounds. We all figured she was mostly Great Pyrenees because of her calm, stoic, slightly stubborn personality. And even though she's pretty and looks like a retriever she doesn't have that type of personality at all . She doesn't want to play ball or do tricks . She does know some commands but isn't an over achiever and seems to have great Pyrenees hearing (which means she does what she wants lol.) Alice is loose all night in the home with no accidents and she will bark when she needs to go out in the morning . We crate for long days but if we are out a few hours we leave her loose with our husky and she has been a good girl. When meeting new dogs she can be a little bossy and loud, but we haven't had any problems at all with proper intros and she's been living with three other dogs and a cat with no issues. Alice loves all people, including kids and seems very careful and easy. She walks like a dream. If I stops she stops and will sit still and wait patiently. She knows her name and is very easy to get her attention or to get her to come over and say hi.
Her quirks include booping her people in inappropriate places, and if on the couch she will gently boop an arm or other body part if she need petting or a walk. And if you watch the videos she smiles and shows teeth when she gets playful . She will chase and can catch chickens. That's really the only time that she moves fast. So a home with free range chickens wouldn't be the best." Pyrs tend to love to spend lots of time outside so we recommend that she go to a home with a physically fenced in yard. She's an amazing dog and we hope to find her a forever family very soon!

If you think you might be interested in adopting Alice or just want to get pre-approved to adopt through us, please fill out an application on our website. Approvals are valid for one year and you will not have the waiting period of an application if you see a dog that you like! Approved adopters are placed on our email list for each transport and receive our Google slides that we send to all pre-approved adopters before posting on Petfinder and our social media and are eligible to attend our meet and greet events.
