Al Pacino's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Al Pacino was adopted from Bluebonnet in 2020 and has had a great life with his family. But circumstances have changed, and they recently had to return Al to us. This was not an easy decision for the family and they were heartbroken to give him up, but we will always be the safety net for any Bluebonnet dog.

Al was able to slide back into life at Windsong Ranch -- he gets along well with other dogs and seems content with life here. He is also safe with our chickens and enjoys going into our chicken yard with us every day. He misses having daily walks, which was something he enjoyed in his previous home. Every time I get a leash off the rack to take a dog to the vet, Al gets excited, hoping the leash is for him. His family said he also enjoys going for a ride in the car, and he hasn't had the opportunity to do that since returning to us.

Al can go over a 4' tall fence, so if you want to give him off-leash time in your yard, you must have fencing at least 5' tall. Since Al enjoys walks and car rides so much, we think he could adapt to life in a home without a yard, as long as he gets plenty of exercise and potty breaks.

If you are looking for a calm, loving dog, please read about the adoption process and complete the application on our website: https://www.bluebonnetrescue.org/info/adoption.

PACINO'S ORIGINAL STORY:

Pacino was picked up by animal control in rural East Texas after being hit by a car. He had visible head injuries, and was bleeding profusely from the mouth. Thankfully, with care first from the vet in East Texas and later by our vet, he has made a full recovery.

Pacino is very sweet and affectionate with people. He is sometimes fearful of new experiences, and we wonder if he might have previously encountered people who were less than kind to him. He gets along well with other dogs after proper introductions, but needs to know that his food, treats, and toys are going to be respected. He was protective of everything when he first arrived in his foster home, but in time he learned that it's OK to share. We suspect that when he moves into a new home, there will be a period of adjustment while he learns to trust his new people and any canine companions.

Pacino is very calm and sensitive to the feelings of the humans around him. He handled the excitement of family gatherings during the holidays very well, including a visit with grandma's little dog, of whom Pacino grew quite fond. He also was very gentle and intuitive around a family member on the autism spectrum, who had a difficult time handling the holiday excitement. His upset did not turn into Pacino's upset, and for a dog in a new environment, that was very impressive.

Pacino has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, so he is ready to find his forever home.
