Ailani's Story

The more pushback rescues get for being called “picky,” the more important it feels to share stories like this—because this is the part people don’t always see.

Meet Ailani 🤍
This absolutely stunning girl was adopted from us back in October as a tiny pup from Jasmine’s litter. You might remember their story—mom, dad, and puppies were found dumped behind a dumpster in Sacramento. Despite that heartbreaking start, Ailani has grown into a beautiful, loving young dog.

When her adopters came to meet her, they shared that their young adult son would be her primary person. We had multiple conversations about the importance of the entire family being committed to a dog, and they assured us everyone was on board.

Against our better judgment, we made an exception—because they truly seemed like a great fit and were so excited to bring her home.

Unfortunately, life changed. The young adult got busy, and the rest of the family isn’t able to care for her. And now, Ailani finds herself without a home again—still just a young dog who deserves stability and commitment.

This isn’t about blaming anyone. Situations change, and we understand that. But this is exactly why rescues have the policies we do. We see what happens after the adoption—the returns, the transitions, the confusion for the dogs. And ultimately, it’s them who feel it the most.

So now our focus is forward—finding Ailani the forever home she deserves.

A little about her:
• Estimated birthday: 8/10/25
• Around 40 lbs at 8 months old (likely won’t get much bigger)
• DNA suggests she is an American Bully mix
• Total lovebug—she’s a classic “Velcro dog” who just wants to be near her people
• Playful, affectionate, and eager to bond
• Kennel trained and knows basic commands
• Good with other dogs
• Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed

Ailani is ready for a home that’s committed—one that will give her consistency, love, and stability.

If you think you might be the right fit, please fill out an adoption application. Bruno's Foundation's Adoption Policy
We are a foster based facility, meaning all of our animals are in homes, not a shelter environment. This allows us to get to know them better, and provide on one training for each animal. In order to limit the amount of people going in and out of our foster homes, we do require a filled out application prior to a meet and greet. We are a 501c3 non profit. All adoption donations are tax deductible! Please click the link on this page to fill out an application for adoption. Allow 48 hours for a reply, we only have one person who reviews applications so please be patient. A phone call will be scheduled should your application fit the needs of the pet you’re applying for. During this time, we will set up a meet and greet, then a home check (virtual or in person). We DO allow out of state adoptions however you will be required to travel to pick up, and this will depend on how the pet you’re applying for does with travel. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed prior to adoption.
