AIKO - COURTESY LISTING's Story

Meet Aiko, a 5½-year-old red tri (27 lbs) who has been loved since puppyhood. Aiko is a sweet, snuggly, smart boy who thrives in a calm environment and is looking for a child-free home where he can feel safe and relaxed.

Aiko has some anxiety, which he has been successfully managed on Prozac since he was young. He does well being left loose at home and is not destructive. He also crates comfortably at daycare.

He is housebroken, gentle, loves belly rubs, walks beautifully on leash (even beside a stroller), and knows a long list of cues including sit, down, stay, come, paw, shake, spin, and stand tall. He has no resource-guarding tendencies and is polite with toys—he won’t even touch the baby’s! He enjoys snuggling in bed before hopping down to sleep on the floor.
Aiko loves Chuckit balls (preferably two!), Running in a fenced yard, Doggy daycare (especially the smaller dogs), Snow days, Quiet love and his own space
He does not have a prey drive and politely ignores wildlife and birds. He may bark at bikes, cars, or the occasional squirrel—but he’s a talker by nature.

Aiko’s owners have worked closely with a behaviorist for the past seven months, but despite training and medication, he continues to show anxiety and discomfort around their young child. Aiko has never bitten, but he will sometimes bark or move toward the baby when he is anxious. Because the family wants to grow and recognizes that Aiko is only truly relaxed when the baby is sleeping or in another room, they are making the compassionate decision to find him a more peaceful home.
If you are interested in Aiko please email ewunsch17@gmail.com Aiko is located in Springfield PA.

ARCBCR courtesy lists dogs for individual owners, other rescues, and shelters wishing to place their Border Collies or Border Collie-mixes themselves.

These dogs are not in the ARCBCR program.

ARCBCR does not warranty any of the information provided about the following dogs.
