Adonis's Story

We weren't quite sure what to expect.
Adonis is a one-year-old, 70-pound bundle of enthusiasm -- built like a tank, but somehow also soft and squishy, with a deep appreciation for snacks and squeaky toys. So when we made him the office dog for the day and placed him within easy reach of... everything, we braced ourselves. Would he upend the trash bin? Trample the supplies? Launch a full-scale snack heist?
He did none of those things. Adonis was, in a word, impeccable.
He's a walking contradiction in the best possible way -- a Heavy Metal exterior with the heart of a 70s love ballad. He's playful without being chaotic, strong without being overwhelming, and that big mouth? It handles treats and toys with surprising care, like he knows they matter. Perfect manners, all wiggles and kisses, not a single misstep.
And he doesn't just shine with people.
Adonis recently spent time with hounds Xena and Creedence, and while he absolutely had the size advantage, he chose kindness over chaos. He matched their energy beautifully -- a little push and pull, a little chase and be chased -- the kind of play where everyone gets to feel like the star.
At one point, Xena darted into a play tunnel when Adonis wasn't looking. The look on his face when he realized she had "disappeared" was pure existential crisis -- followed by complete, over-the-top joy when she popped back out. You could practically see his worldview expand in real time.
Adonis isn't just a good dog. He's the kind of dog who makes life feel a little lighter, a little funnier, a little better.
He's ready to bring that energy home.
Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are daily, including weekends & holidays, from 9am to noon.
Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!

PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
