Ada's Story

Name: Ada
Nickname: Smushy
Age: 2.5 Years Old
Breed: Boxer / Pittie mix
Weight: 60 lbs.
Doppelganger: Olaf from Frozen (but maybe moreso his shy sister)- slightly goofy and full of love
Before OMD: Ada was surrendered to animal control when her owners could no longer care for her
Energy level: She is the perfect mix of Boxer playfulness and couch potato snugglebug. She loves to fetch, run, and go for walks, but settles in beautifully when it's time to chill on the couch. She is not hyper, but rather engaged and energetic during playtime.
Descriptors: Cuddly, playful, silly, sweet, velcro, happy-go-lucky
What we love most: Her "sploot" pose when she lies like a frog. Her head may be coated in actual velvet for how soft it is. How much she loves to be near her people. Her snorting (it's a Boxer thing, iykyk). Her sudden and silly bursts of energy, where she'll prance around with a toy in her mouth like she has won the lottery.
What she loves most: Her toys (especially soft ones), treats, meal time, Collogon bones, following her humans around like a ghost (we promise it's endearing and not scary), nibbling on her toys while draped over someone's legs so she has all of her favorite things close by, and gently carrying her toys around the house as if they are her babies. Ada is also very gentle when accepting treats, which makes her easy and fun to train with.
What she knows: She is a pro at "sit" and is currently learning "leave it". She is housebroken when she keeps to her walk schedule.
What she is working on: Not jumping when she gets overly excited (before walks and meals). Leash manners and has been very responsive to training. Ada can be very timid and unsure in new situations and around new people. She is working on her confidence, but sometimes her fear manifests in barking at people (or absolutely nothing outside). She has not shown any signs of aggression and warms up quickly once she actually spends some time with a new person.
Her least favorite things: Quick movements and loud noises
Dogs: Yup! She has been great at meeting new dogs and currently lives with another female dog. She would love to live with another dog, but it is not a requirement. She shares toys well and can read when her foster sister is not in the mood to play.
Cats: Unknown - She hasn't met any cats yet, but she would likely be fine with "dog savvy" cats.
Kids: "Dog-Savvy" older kids would be fine with Ada. She has met kids while on walks and been very polite. She can be a little timid and afraid of quick movements, so small children may startle her at first.
Housebroken: Yes, when she is kept to her routine.
Crate Trained: Yes, she is crated during the day and goes into her crate with a treat. She did whine a little in the beginning, but now that she knows her routine, she is happy to chill in her crate until her human is home
Life Goal: Ada is on a mission to pull every single toy out of the toy basket every day so she can share them with her siblings or humans. Her work is never done, though, as somehow, the toys end up back in the basket the next day, and she has to start over.
Her Ideal Home: Ada is truly adaptable. She would do well in a home with or without pets as long as she gets plenty of attention. She thrives on companionship, so the more time she has with her people, the better. She hopes her new home comes with an unlimited toy budget, but she is willing to compromise on this if enough treats are involved.

Ada is spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. She is available for adoption to residents of CT, IL and their surrounding states.

One More Dog Rescue (Formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails)'s Adoption Policy
One More Dog Rescue (OMD), formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, requires all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and agree to a home visit prior to any adoption. Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and the dog. If the dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $500.00 for puppies and adult dogs and $350.00 for senior dogs be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.
