Ace's Story

Ace is a 7-year-old JRT/Basenji mix who is smart, affectionate, obedient, and knows some tricks! He can actually hold a treat on his nose and flip it into his mouth!! He is currently living with 4 other dogs. He shows dominance (not aggression) and can be pushy but listens to voice commands to "leave it" immediately. Ace needs some leash training because he pulls a bit and can be reactive at times to other male dogs but he listens to corrections. He will growl (no teeth) to other dogs but does not snap when trying to get his foster parent’s attention (wants to be alpha) but is easily corrected. Ace has some anxiety when there is a storm but it isn’t that bad. He does not have any food or toy aggression nor resource guarding. Ace doesn’t mind his teeth cleaned but he’s learning to get used to his nails being clipped. Mind games are Ace’s preference over toys…he likes a challenge! He’d do best in a home with no children as he came from a home with one he nipped at when provoked but he didn’t break skin. Ace might do really well with casual agility training and would thrive with trick training and an active owner. He might do best with less dominant male dogs and/or female dogs in the home. He doesn’t have a prey drive and actually is afraid of cats. If this handsome fellow sounds like a good fit for your home, please contact us.
