Abigail's Story

Meet Abby- This beautiful 6 year old bluetick girl ended up at a rural shelter during a storm. She's been staying with a foster family for the past month, and by all accounts she made herself right at home.

She figured out the bell system on the doors and now rings the front door bell when she's ready for a walk or a car ride. She's not subtle about what she wants, and honestly, that's part of the charm.

Abby is a people-dog through and through. She loves everybody, happily cuddles with adults and older kids alike, and is comfortable enough in her surroundings to fall asleep on the couch and snore. Loudly, presumably, because she's a bluetick and they commit to everything.

Cats are a no, and she prefers to be the only dog in the home. She's been around kids 10 and up without any issues. She does pull on leash when she's excited, but settles into a routine well- she just needs someone consistent to establish one with her.

Abby is crate trained and working on her house training. She does get nervous during storms, so a patient home that'll let her ride it out inside is important.

She's an easy dog to love. She just needs a home that has enough room in the routine for a few extra car rides and couch naps.

Abigail is currently in foster in Tulsa, OK and is adoptable anywhere in the country.
helplesshounds.com/adoption-application

Helpless Hounds Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
For a complete list of our adoption criteria, please visit: https://www.helplesshounds.com/faqs NOTE: You must complete and submit an application and be approved to adopt prior to being able to meet the dog. We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always try to select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs and try to find the best match for both dog and human. We leave a dog’s profile online until either it has been adopted, or has received several applications. We are a non-profit organization that spends our adoption fees and donations on vaccinations, surgeries, various medical tests, medicines, food and supplies needed by our dogs. Our fees do not cover the overall expenses incurred by the care of our dogs, but they do help defray the costs involved. We thank you for your support.
