Abby's Story

Hi, I'm Abby. I'm a 10-year-old Pointer/American Pit Bull Terrier mix, about 50 pounds of pure love, sunshine, and snuggles. If you're looking for a best friend who believes every day should include naps, walks, cuddles, and a little bit of silliness, I think we should meet.

I've spent my whole life surrounded by family. I've lived happily with dogs, cats, and kids from toddlers to teenagers, and I genuinely enjoy having everyone around. Meeting new people? That's exciting! I'll happily say hello and soak up every bit of attention you're willing to give.

I'm getting older, so my back legs aren't quite as strong as they used to be, but don't worry-I still race up and down the stairs when it's time to head outside! I enjoy leisurely walks, though I have to admit I get a little enthusiastic at first. There are just so many wonderful smells to investigate before I settle into a nice walking pace.

At home, I'm happiest curled up next to my people, stretched out in a sunny spot, or snuggled into bed. I also have a hilarious hobby: giving stuffed toys a very dramatic "de-stuffing." If your plush squeaky toy suddenly loses all its fluff... well... it probably had a good run.

I'm a smart girl, too! I know sit, come, lay down, shake, and stay (when I'm feeling cooperative). I'm food motivated, eager to please, and I listen well-especially if snacks are involved.

There are just a couple of things I'd appreciate. Loud noises, vacuum cleaners, and especially fire alarms aren't my favorite, and I can be protective of my food and toys. My skin can get itchy during the summer, so staying on flea prevention helps keep me comfortable.

I'm looking for a home where someone has time to enjoy life with me. I've always had people around, and while I can handle a few hours alone, I'd be happiest with someone who's home often and wants a loyal shadow to share their days. If your idea of a perfect afternoon includes sunshine, quiet companionship, and a dog who believes cuddling is an Olympic sport, I think we're going to get along just fine.
