Abby's Story
If you are looking for a loyal, loving, relational companion, please consider adopting Abby. She is a special girl who has some special needs so we are looking for a special adopter just for her. The first step in adopting Abby will be to email us at pets@michianapets.org to request an application. But one step before that is to read about Abby's perfect adopter...and hopefully it is you.

Her ideal home would be with someone who has experience with herding dogs as well as sensitive, fearful dogs. A slow pace when getting to know others is the perfect way to set her up for success. A calm, introverted home environment is just what Abby is looking for. We want to see her feel safe in a home, so a home with lots of visitors is not what she needs. A busy neighborhood with neighbors in close proximity would be something that would stress Abby out. A quiet neighborhood/environment would be best for her!

She takes time to learn that someone is her friend, but the more she gets to know you, the more she trusts you and the more over-the-moon for you she is when she sees you. It is amazing to see her go from being scared and untrusting to having entire body wiggles and wanting to be close to you.

She is the smartest girl ever. Abby knows sit, come, stay, lay down, speak and shake with her right paw and left paw! If you have time to teach her, we're sure there isn't any behavior she couldn't learn. A few of her favorite things to do are going for walks, going for car rides, snuggling and running.

Abby will do best in a home as the only pet. She has not been reactive to dogs on walks and redirects nicely when asked to do so. So, she is okay with dogs at a distance but when she is in close-proximity she is not comfortable and we want her to be totally comfortable in her new home. She asks for anyone in the home to be teenagers and older.

We're so excited for Abby to find her family. She is about four years old, is 53 pounds and is spayed. Please be patient while she is getting to know you. She is worth the extra effort...trust us.
