Abby's Story
ABBY IS BEING FOSTERED IN ILLINOIS. APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED NATIONWIDE.

Abby is one of 6 ES rescued from an IN shelter. The dogs had been turned in by a local Amish farmer. Abby is a young dog, just about a year old and has been spayed and is up to date on her shots.

Although timid initially, she has blossomed into a confident, trusting and happy dog. She loves to play with the resident ES and follows her people around where ever they go; a true English Shadow. She is quick to learn and has mastered the basic obedience commands of sit, down and leave it. Her recall is near perfect. She is almost housebroken; her new owner will just need to pay special attention to getting her out first thing in the morning or after confinement in a crate.

She has been exposed to farm life and accompanies her foster mom while she does chores. Abby has a fairly strong herding drive and will round up the chickens and turkeys. Whether due to this drive, her youthful exuberance or too much freedom (or possibly a combination of the three) she did manage to kill a turkey at her foster home. If placed in a farm home, she would be best placed with someone who can help her learn some restraint and how to channel her working instinct appropriately.

For more information about Abby, please contact us at nesrinfo@yahoo.com and use the dog's name in the subject line. We encourage all prospective adopters to read more about the breed, the adoption process, and all the dogs in our care by visiting our website (www.nesr.info). An adoption application is required of all prospective adopters.
