Maybe You Can Be the Happy Ending to a Sad Story<br/><br/>We are looking for loving homes for several puppies who have had a very difficult start in life.<br/><br/>Here is their story.<br/><br/>A friend of ours who runs a pet transportation business called Pets to Vets was contacted to transport some dogs to a boarding kennel. When she arrived, she discovered that the seven dogs belonged to a homeless individual living in a van who needed to be hospitalized for several days. Since the dogs could not remain at the hospital, arrangements were made to board them temporarily.<br/><br/>The situation she found was heartbreaking. Five puppies were confined to a kennel measuring approximately three feet by five feet, surrounded by filth and urine. The two older dogs, believed to be the puppies' parents, were living in the front of the van. All of the dogs were dirty, severely underweight, suffering from mange, and had received no veterinary care.<br/><br/>So Pets to Vets transported them to a boarding facility, where a veterinarian examined them, treated them for mange, and administered their first round of vaccinations.<br/><br/>A few days later, the owner went to the boarding facility and claimed only the mother dog, leaving the remaining six dogs behind. Under normal circumstances, the boarding facility would have had to wait 30 days before considering the dogs abandoned. However, our friend at Pets to Vets has a heart of gold. She stepped in, picked up the six remaining dogs, and brought them to her home.<br/><br/>For the first time in a long while, they had a safe yard to play in, regular meals, clean bedding, and baths to wash away months of neglect.<br/><br/>Shortly afterward, our friend at Pets to Vets had to leave on a business trip and needed help caring for the dogs while she was away. Since we had an available kennel, we agreed to take them in for a few days. They turned out to be incredibly well-behaved and easy to care for. Despite being extremely thin when they arrived, they never fought over food. In fact, they would happily share their meals and even switch bowls with one another without any issues—something quite unusual for dogs that have experienced food insecurity.<br/><br/>When our friend returned, she worked with a low-cost veterinary clinic that generously agreed to spay and neuter all six dogs at no charge. With that completed, they were finally ready to begin the next chapter of their lives and find permanent homes.<br/><br/>Due to some unexpected business obligations, it became difficult for her to take all six dogs back, so four of them are currently staying with us while they wait for their forever families.<br/><br/>These puppies are now ready for adoption, and we would love to help them find the homes they deserve. We were originally told they were about six months old, but they appear to be somewhat older than that. Their mange is healing nicely. The light patches visible in the photos are not skin discoloration—they are areas where their fur is beginning to grow back.<br/><br/>This weekend they will receive a second mange treatment, vaccination boosters, and microchips. All of this is included in the adoption fee. We will also provide a leash, collar, toys, food and water bowls, a dog bed, and a crate if needed.<br/><br/>The puppies currently have names, but since we are keeping track of them by their microchip numbers, we occasionally mix them up.
