TOOTSIE ROLL is a shy boy who arrived at VBACAC as a stray. He was very nervous of these new surroundings and still is very nervous of this shelter environment but he has made lots of progress. He has slowly allowed some staff and volunteers to leash him up and walk him outside. He is very treat motivated which helps a lot. On a walk he consistently looks back, checking in so to speak, to look for treats. He takes treats gently, too. He will default to a sit at anytime, anywhere. In the yard, we walked around, he sniffed here and there. He also would come to me for the treats. I was able to pet him gently as well. Slowly but surely. We know there is a family out there with the patience and understanding to bring him in and allow him the time to settle in, regardless of how long that takes. Tootsie Roll enjoys little face scratches and he has also shown to be good in a quiet office space.
