2026 Harvey

Harvey is the sweetest 4 year old boy who is basically always happy & wagging his tail! He loves life & loves people. He is gentle with people - he does not jump up when excited nor does he bite or mouth. <br/><br/>He is a BIG cuddle bug. If you walk over to pet him, there’s a good chance he’ll immediately flop down and most likely roll over to show you his belly. He loves affection & cuddles but is also happy to just leave you alone & nap. He’s also a pretty entertaining sleeper — sometimes he sleeps on his back with his legs basically all up in the air. <br/><br/>Harvey LOVES going for walks. He isn’t the best at walking in a straight line but he tries his best. <br/><br/>He seems to enjoy being around another dog & is also happy to have cats around. He is respectful if the cats don’t like him, never chases them & if they do tolerate him, he is very gentle when approaching them. <br/><br/>Harvey appears to not have had much formal training and doesn’t really know tricks, but he listens pretty well and is an overall easy dog. He does sometimes forget just how large he is and may bump into you — or into other things. He manages to hit his head quite a bit but never seems too bothered by it. He could potentially do well with kiddos if they aren’t so tiny he knocks them over or they don’t get upset over being tripped by their new pup. <br/><br/>Harvey is easy to brush & tolerates grooming well. For a Newfoundland, he doesn’t shed as much as you might expect and isn’t particularly drooly. He’s also very easy to give medication to, including pills and flea/tick preventatives. <br/><br/>Harvey came to us overweight, but he’s already lost 10 pounds! He still has some weight to lose and currently can’t handle a lot of stairs (or he just won’t even try them) so a home where he doesn’t need to regularly navigate a large set of stairs would be ideal. Walks have been great for helping him slim down and luckily, they’re also one of his absolute favorite things. And even on his diet he was managed to still get plenty of his favorite treats - ice cubes. <br/><br/>Harvey is a sweet, well behaved, happy, affectionate, goofy, and friendly Newfie who would love to find his forever home.<br/><br/>He is currently being foster on the North side of Indianapolis, IN and is ready for her forever home. Up to date on all vaccines, HW/Flea, and neutered.
