0816 Trooper's Story

Trooper is fostered in Spring Grove IL

A supersweet, lowactivity gentleman with a big heart—literally. Trooper was originally surrendered by a breeder where he likely didn't receive the best care. He was then adopted by a kind older couple, but through absolutely no fault of his own, he has returned to rescue due to his adopter's significant medical issues.

When Trooper arrived, he had a few medical concerns. With improved nutrition and the correct medications, his enlarged heart, high blood pressure, and redundant tracheal membrane are already improving and well on their way to being well managed. Specific details will be shared during the adoption counseling call with adopters. Trooper has been an absolute gem with the resident dogs in his foster home. He's respectful, a little slow to engage, but has integrated beautifully into a pack of Aussies. Social, friendly, and full of chill vibes, he loves finding the perfect cozy spot to settle in and watch the world go by. He takes his time warming up to new people, but once he decides you're his person, he is absolutely devoted.

This handsome boy is fully potty trained and a crate enthusiast—he loves his crate so much that sometimes he needs a gentle nudge to come out. It's his safe space, especially during thunderstorms, when he prefers to curl up inside and wait it out.

We recommend a physically fenced yard and no toddlers in his adoptive home. Trooper is truly the total package: he LOVES car rides, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and always waits his turn like the polite little gentleman he is. He's also brushing up on his basics—sit, stay, wait—and doing it all with charm.

Trooper is neutered, has received a dental, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for current or prior pets is required to adopt from our rescue. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.
