Meet WILDER

Happy Spring! Kitten Season is here again and we need to make room to get Moms and kittens in and fixed! Please consider adopting- especially some of our older residents! Remember you save TWO cats lives and make countless more cats & kittens lives better by adopting! When you adopt one cat, it makes room to save another! Win! Win! The kitties thank you too!

Hi! My name is Wilder!
I'm a domestic short haired black, neutered male, up to date on my shots, around 4 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in NWI.
I am FIV+ which is a very manageable but often misunderstood disease. I am a normal kitty and cannot spread FIV in household and I won't have a shorter life because of it, but it's good to be aware of it. Please see the last slide after my pictures to get a brief education on FIV courtesy of @catmanchrispool who is a cat rescuer & advoCATe on social media. Please Google FIV+ cats for more information too.

Have you ever heard the phrase...don't judge a book by it's cover? That applies to lots of things and it definitely applies to me! I know I look like a big mean alley cat, but I'm just a super sweet and shy baby boy! Really!! If you've been searching for a purrrrfect kitty companion, here I am!!
I have lots of black kitty good luck!
I was sick and living outside, trying to find food in a parking lot when a nice person saw me and knew I needed help. I really lucked out because did need help! I was taken to the shelter and the people there thought I might be feral cat. I can't blame them, I look intimidating and I can get really scared in new situations, but I wasn't mean, so they have me a chance to decompress . I got the medicine I needed, lots of food and I started feeling better! I didn't trust people at first, it took me awhile to be my real self, but once I did and I started getting pets and love, I was sooo much happier!! I'm a lover and I want to cuddle, follow you around and just be with someone all the time!! One of the people at the shelter say I'm just a big teddy bear!
Just when I was ready for a home, I had to have surgery, so my search was delayed! My eyes were irritated and eye medicine wouldnt help. I went to the doctor who said my eyelashes were growing into my eyes, so I would need a surgery called entropion surgery. I got the surgery and it worked! My eyes healed really well! I'm so happy too! I didn't realize how much my eyes hurt me until I got the surgery! Now I'm REALLY ready for my new home!!
I'm going to need some extra time to adjust to a new home because I'm still shy around new people for a brief period. I'm a little older but I still love playing and I can't get enough PETS! I LOVE to be brushed, have my nails trimmed and have my eyes and face wiped with a warm cloth too! I love my spa time! I really REALLY want a one on one relationship with a person, but I think a family would be good too! I really just want someone who will give me lots of attention and let me be by their side all the time!
I can't wait to get another chance at a home! I want to give all my love to someone who loves me too! Please come see me!

You can visit me at the shelter! I have my own " room" there. I love other kitties and would like a house with another kitty (with a proper introduction period) or I'm okay by myself too. However, NO dogs. Older kids are okay as long as they are gentle. You can always foster to adopt me too!
If you're looking for a big teddy bear boy, give Wilder a chance! Make an appointment to meet him today!

Please call 219-922-1766 to meet Wilder! Also, be sure to fill out an adoption application that can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder

Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't normally get a chance at getting a forever home, a chance! Our fosters & volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to get them used to being pet and to show them no one will hurt them. However, when they go to a new home, some kitties will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner and have patience.
Thank you!
