Whitney's Story

If you would like an application or have any questions, please send an email to us at:
info@ht-ac.org

Whitney is currently in a foster home in Glastonbury with her daughter Celine (black and white tuxedo), three other cats, and a Chihuahua. She came from a home where she was loved, but she was not in the best of circumstances, and she had a number of litters of kittens before she was surrendered. There were thirteen other cats in the household, she was not able to get much attention, and she is very shy as a result.

In fact, if you adopt her, it is possible for the first month or so you may think you did not get a cat; that you were tricked and you instead adopted a nocturnal mythical being. I mean, how many hiding spots can there possibly be in a house? Where did she go? But fear not! She really is a cat. And, you will discover, she is a very gentle cat. You will wake up at 2 am some random night and she will be curled up in the crook of your neck. And that will be it. She will now be out in the open, in daylight, and she’ll stare at you with her giant owl eyes, and you will know she trusts and loves you.

She is a little rusty at being social. Her head butts might be a little strong, and she might be a little loud when she’s asking for dinner. But you guys can work on that together.

If you are looking for a kitty who will warm up more quickly, consider adopting Whitney with Celine, her daughter. Celine will be in your face within the first few days of moving in, and will bring out the best in Whitney.

Whitney would be fine with other pets who are gentle and non-confrontational. She is a pacifist, and will retreat rather than confront or even defend. She would do absolutely fantastic with Celine. She may also be fine with gentle children aged seven or older.
She is three years old, and has been spayed, vaccinated for rabies/distemper, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Her adoption fee is $250.

Hidden Treasures Adoption Center's Adoption Policy
Hidden Treasures will be having an ADOPTION EVENT this Sunday, December 7, from 1-3 pm on the North Shore Animal League bus parked in front of Petco at 188 Kitts Lane in Newington, CT. Elmer, Myrtle, Bailey, and Sophie will be attending the event-please stop by for a visit! If you are interested in adoption or have any questions, please send an email to: info@ht-ac.org We would like to heartily thank PET SUPPLIES PLUS for hosting our adoption events, and for kindly allowing our kitties to stay at the Groton, Wethersfield, and Manchester stores. They have been instrumental in helping us to find wonderful furever homes for our rescued cats and kittens since our inception in 2004. Kudos to PSP! Anyone who is interested in adoption may send us an e-mail and request an application. We will process all applications that are received, and we will make a decision based on the applicant that is most suitable for any given pet, regardless of the order in which applications are received. We do not work on a first-come-first-served basis. We will make an appointment for approved applicants to pick up their new family members. All adopters are expected to sign an adoption contract and pay a fee to help defray medical and other expenses incurred. Shipping animals unaccompanied is unpredictable and very stressful for the animals. Hidden Treasures will NOT ship pets under any circumstances. Adopters will pick up their pets in person and transport them directly to their new home in an appropriate pet carrier. Hard carriers are preferable to soft carriers with zippers. If the pet is being transported by air, adopters are expected to bring the pet on board the plane. We reserve the right to deny applications for any reason. We also offer a "virtual shelter" service. If you have a feline that needs a new home, please send us an e-mail, and we can post them on our website and screen applicants to find an appropriate placement. We require three clear photos of each cat (including one frontal view of the face, and one of the entire body and head), any available vet records, and a description of each cat, including breed, sex, age, an explanation of any medical and/or behavior problems, reason for re-homing, and compatibility with other animals and children.
