Twinkle-Adopted's Story
Twinkle is a silver-tipped Chinchilla Persian with large, absolutely round, curious and alert green eyes that are like twinkling, shiny stars (think: Fancy Feast commercial!). His coat is white with a charcoal dusting on top, as it is suitable for Silver Chinchillas.

Twinkle was surrendered by owner due to him getting stressed out over sharing a home with 8 other animals and a toddler (and who blames him???). The stress made him not drink enough, which gave him a bladder infection, which in turn made him not use the litter box properly, which then got him dumped... but the infection has been treated with antibiotics and cleared up, and Twinkle is now using his litter box like the purrfect gentleman! In fact, he has not had a single accident while with us at the rescue and in a bit quieter environment 8-).

Twinkle was badly matted, and combing him out would have hurt him rather badly, thus we opted for a more radical yet rather stylish alternative: the "lion cut", where the kitty gets shaved with the exception of head and booties and tail. Trust me: Twinkle is still absolutely stunning, and his emerald eyes and tiny meow will totally bewitch you. HOWEVER, please note that Twinkle did not like to be combed at all (probably because he got hurt in the past), thus he may need to be kept in a lion cut for quite a while until he trusts his new people deeply to let them comb and groom him. NOTE: Silver Chincillas are considered the most stunningly beautiful of all Persian colors, yet also are by far the most labor-intensive, as their white undercoat is like cotton and will mat horribly when the cat only as much as walks past water. One a scale from 1 to 10 grading the degree of coat maintenance, with 10 being the high end, Twinkie will be a 16-18! This cat is not for the faint of heart... or else he will suffer horribly with thick mats that pull on his skin when he moves, even pull off the top layer of the Persian tissue-thin skin... and this can get major ugly. Twinkie also will need to have his eyes gently wiped every day, as his tears otherwise will stain the fur and, worse yet, possibly give him eye infections. So, PLEASE think about this good and long, then think about it again, then take a deep breath... and then email us. Twinkie is one of the most beautiful cats we have ever seen, though, and if you are disciplined and like to patiently work with an animal, he might be The Cat's Meow.

In terms of purrsonality, Twinkie is rather patient (he even lets you give him pills without resistance!). He chirps and sweetly meows for attention, and purrs up a storm if he can only get close to you. He likes to snuggle and absolutely loves to be petted and get chin scratches. He is a very sweet and affectionate cat, on the petite side, and playful. He is friendly toward other cats and probably would do well with another one or two peaceful (!) felines; past experience shows, however, that we don't want to push the envelop too hard, thus dogs and children under the age of 8 are right out... sorry! This lover boy needs a quiet family/home, so no exceptions on the dogs and the small kids.

Twinkle is neutered (of course), up to date on shots (rabies and feline distemper), passed his blood tests for feline aids and feline leukemia (FIV/FeLV), and when shaved, also got his teeth cleaned with a manual scale (where tartar gets chipped off with a scraping tool). So, for all we know, he is as good as new 8-) and ready to go...

If you are interested in visiting Twinkle, please let us know. NOTE: we do not, never ever, under no circumstances ship or fly animals by themselves and without human company, as this is WAY too dangerous; breeders may do that, but we don't. So, unless you cannot come to Northern VA (Leesburg area), please don't apply. Just being upfront and honest...
