Timothy's Story

Timothy: A Brave Work in Progress Looking for Someone Who Wont Skip the Hard Chapters

Please don't mistake the hardest chapter of my life for my whole story.

Hi, I'm Timothy. Right now, I may not look or act like the cat I'm meant to become. I survived as a street cat, but right now I'm still a bit frightened of people. On top of that, I'm dealing with a painful medical condition while I wait for surgery. At the moment, I cannot pull my tongue fully into my mouth, which causes me to drool. I'm also unable to groom myself properly, and I'm still learning to use the litter box consistently. My lovely foster thinks that most of my issues will be resolved once I'm no longer in pain. (My surgery is scheduled - I'm hoping for a new outlook on life in a few short weeks!)

Most days, I sleep quietly in a corner. If my foster gets too close, I may hiss at her. But - I don't hiss because Im trying to be mean - it's really because I'm just scared, uncomfortable, and still learning to accept that people can be safe.

I haven't had the chance to reveal much of my personality yet. It's difficult to show someone who you really are when so much of your energy is going toward simply coping and trying to heal from the stress and injuries caused by my previous life outside.

My foster believes there is a sweet boy underneath all this. I can tell you one thing - I'm trying my best. Once Im no longer in pain, we hope I'll feel safe enough to begin trusting, exploring, and showing us the real Timothy—at whatever pace feels right to me.

I need a quiet, patient, cat-savvy home with someone who understands that progress may be measured in very small victories: feeling comfortable near my humans, accepting care, and resting somewhere other than the corner. My person must be prepared to give me time, space, continued socialization, and any support I still need during my recovery.

My story is only beginning, and if I'm still looking for a forever home, this profile will be updated as my health improves and my personality emerges. For now, I'm looking for a special person who can see beyond the drool, the fear, and the uncertainty—and recognize a little cat who has survived a lot and still deserves to be chosen.

If you have a soft heart, realistic expectations, and the patience to let trust grow slowly, please ask about me. I may not be ready to rush into your arms, but perhaps you could be the person who finally gives me a safe place to become myself.

Current personality traits: Quiet, timid, cautious, resilient, sensitive, still learning to trust

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. Fitchburg Friends of Felines, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are required to have a solid character reference, vet reference, and a site visit which can be conducted virtually. Due to MA regulations, we cannot intake pets from out of state. We offer a foster to adopt program to guarantee the intended kitty is a good fit for your family. We also require that all adopters agree to return the kitty should the adopter no longer be able to care for him or her in the future, or an agreed to person is identified to continue care for this kitty. We are not a brick and mortar; all available cats are kept in foster homes. Therefore, we would need time to schedule a visit to meet a kitty. We are happy to travel to match the perfect kitty for your family. Our adoption fees are normally $250 per cat, $350 for specialty breeds or exotics, and $50 less per kitty if interested in multiples. For specific questions, or for an adoption application, please feel free to reach out to us directly: fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com or call our hotline: 978-222-3170
