Teeya, her mom and sisters were trapped and rescued by WPR on June 13th, 2019, since they were living under a porch in NW Waverly. Teeya is now up to date on shots, spayed, and she also tested negative for FeLV / FIV.

Teeya was born around 5/1/19 so she is about a year old as of May 2020. Her foster home and other volunteers have worked diligently having blanket wrap sessions for taming and cuddling. After being in a foster home for 2 months, Teeya is still a little shy, a bit skittish and is easily scared especially if someone tries to grab hold of her. She’s ok with being picked up, but doesn’t often ask to be picked up. It’s best to let her come to you to be petted. When she is snuggly she really does enjoy being loved on, especially when wrapped in a blanket. She is very explorative and playful. Teeya loves to play with her sisters of course, but with proper introductions she does fine with other cats. Best if she has a playmate and another cat around would help her to overcome her shyness. So she must be adopted in a home with one or both of her sisters, or into a home that already has a young playful cat she can play and bond with.

11/18/19 UPDATE: Teeya has become even more social since her last time at Norby’s. She was somewhat nervous and scared at first, but has learned to trust people more. Her foster parents visited her everyday bringing her a soft food treat, like she got at home, and noticed she quickly became less scared and didn’t hide in the back as much. She would come to the front ask for love and became more trusting of people. After she returned to her foster home, she comes around for attention very often and wants to be petted. Especially if you rub the back of her neck, she gets that “I’m in heaven look” and just melts into it. She’s ok with being picked up and doesn’t freak as long as she’s not grabbed, but she doesn’t want to stay long. Her affection can be bought with a little soft food or treats. She loves her sister, but has four other foster friends and does great with them too. I often see Teeya and Misty hanging out together as Misty love to give her kisses. She really is a wonderful cat with sweet, affectionate personality. She has been a healthy cat, but does seem to be sensitive to scented or high dust litter. She just needs a home that is willing to give her love, neck rubs, is patient in gaining her trust even if it means to bribe her with a little soft food and treats!

She is looking for a forever home willing to keep working on exposing her true sweetness.

3/29/20 UPDATE: Teeya started limping several weeks ago. After many times to the vet, she seems to be getting better now. Somehow her kneecap came out of place. Her foster home gave her two weeks of pain/anti-inflammatory medicine and started her on glucosamine supplements. Then waited a week with no meds and then took her back to the doctor for a recheck. We wanted hit looked at and her movements and make an assessment about where to go from here. The vet said her knee cap is no longer going out of place and that he wouldn't recommend surgery. Now she still has a bit of a limp and she doesn't put all of her weight on it when she's putting it on the floor. But he said she surprised him how much better she was doing with walking, sitting and such. With time it may improve more or it may just remain at this level. In the future she will have arthritis and once injured, it may be more susceptible for re-injury. She also may never be the best jumper as she wouldn't be one to make a jump from the floor to the top of the fridge kind of jump. However in our foster room there's levels to get in the windows and such and she does all that with ease. I am keeping up with the glucosamine supplements because he said they wouldn't hurt her and might be helping. They aren't expensive, the ones I chose through Chewy are under $12 for 60 and I am down to giving her one a day-they are chews that I break up a bit and she devours it all. Teeya is doing really good leg wise. Most of the time you don’t see her limp, but if you watch closely you can see her put her paw down carefully. It sure doesn’t slow her down, she still runs, plays and jumps up on things.

The three sisters are: Pixie, Gidget, and Teeya. (Gidget has been adopted!)

Will someone please adopt Teeya and give her a forever home? $95 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
